About this specimen
This particular specimen features warm peach-orange Stilbite crystals growing in association with Heulandite on a dark basalt matrix, forming a classic zeolite assemblage from the Deccan Traps of Maharashtra, India. The Stilbite displays elongated, radiating and bladed crystal growth with a soft pearly luster, while Heulandite occurs beneath and between the larger Stilbite formations as translucent to earthy crystalline growth. In the basalt cavities of Maharashtra, mineral-rich fluids entered open fractures and cavities, allowing successive generations of Heulandite and Stilbite to crystallize together. Similar peach Stilbite on Heulandite specimens are documented from Maharashtra and show the same characteristic contrast of warm-colored Stilbite against darker volcanic matrix.
