The Apophyllite shows translucent, blocky to prismatic crystal forms with bright vitreous luster, while the Heulandite forms the surrounding white to cream crystalline foundation and fills the spaces between the larger crystals. In the Deccan Trap basalt cavities of Maharashtra, mineral-rich fluids produced successive generations of Apophyllite and zeolite-group minerals, allowing green Apophyllite to grow directly with or over earlier Heulandite formations.
